As you may have guessed by now I am a huuuuuuge fan of statement jewels.
I first fell in love with Rodrigo Otazu jewellery over eight years ago when i stocked it in my own Boutique in Cardiff. A hit with my glamorous Welsh clients, I knew every delievery would be a sell out.
Fast forward to two weeks ago, I was looking at statement pieces and I thought straight away, where is the brand that I fell for years before.
How it began..
Otazuâs designs first caught the attention of the fashion world when appearing in Australian Vogue in 1991. Ever since that editorial, Otazu jewelry has been loved by many international celebrities and fashionistas. The distinctive Otazu designs, Â representing prĂȘt-a-porter collections of the most deluxe fashion jewelry, created a signature style for the brand. Shortly after the launch of Otazu jewelry, Otazu Sterling Silver was introduced. The brand Otazu expanded even further with ground breaking couture collections and limited editions of show pieces. This resulted in creating a couture collection: âRodrigo Otazuâ.
Over the years Otazu has become a global brand owing to its faithful audience – stylish and distinctive women who are always on the lookout for the next marvelous design, women who enjoy their beauty and the attention they get by wearing Otazu designs. Otazu creations reflect and enhance the natural style and beauty of women all over the world. The different personalities are united in a common denominator – passion for fashion and need to express themselves. The urge to radiate and feel chemistry, to be seductive and elegant prompts the desire for statement Otazu
Sparkling collaborations
Over the years the Brand has collaborated with established designers like Christian La Croix, Clements Ribeiro, Emanuel Ungaro, Jean-Paul Gualtier and Thierry Mugler, adding another dimension to their work. On the catwalks, Otazu designs have been worn by international models like Lily Cole and Erin OâConner, taking the breath of the audience by using the most spectacular themes and showing in most unique locations. The powerful statement of Otazu designs have also created a demand for custom made costumes for some of the worldâs leading music artists – from Kylie Minogue, for whom Otazu created a special diamond piece in association with Gassan Diamonds, to Kelis, Lauren Hill, Aretha Franklin, BeyoncĂ©, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Madonna, and last but not least, Lady Gaga.
Forget about Red Roses this Valentines day…..
I have completely fallen for Los Angeles based CC Skye’s Rose gold collection of Jewellery and Accessories.
I suggest you “accidently” cut and paste this picture somewhere highly visable (or email me at stylust@me.com to order these!)

On the subject of my previous post, New York labels and my fabulous clients!
Last night, I spoke to some of the ladies who I work with and of course, the Ascot clients are already gearing up for the big week in June.
A big part of the Summer Season, Ascot stages 26 days of racing throughout the year, but the five-day Royal Meeting, held annually in June, is the most famous – a key date in the social calendar which combines venerable tradition with fashionable panache. Hordes of well-dressed racegoers descend on the Berkshire town.
Originally established to ensure privacy for members of the royal family, the Royal Enclosure dates back to the 1790s, when a separate Royal Stand was erected. The exclusive Royal Box, commissioned by George IV in 1822, was only accessible to guests brandishing a royal invitation. However, last year and this year I have been dressing the ladies of Ascot who have the privilaged ticket. (Unfortunately, not royals but still beautiful regardless).
The prestigious Gold Cup event is held on Ladies’ Day (Thursday), when women entering the Royal Enclosure must wear a hat that covers the ‘crown of their head’. Ladies’ Day at Royal Ascot can trace its roots back to 1823, when an anonymous poet described the Thursday of the Royal meeting as ‘Ladies’ Day… when the women, like angels, look sweetly divine.’
However angelic they may look, the outfits are a little bit more difficult than one would wish. As you can see by below, here are the latest rules:
“Please note: Strapless, off the shoulder, halter neck, spaghetti straps and dresses with a strap of less than one inch (2.5cm) are not permitted. Midriffs must be covered. Fascinators are no longer permitted in the Royal Enclosure; neither are headpieces which do not have a base covering a sufficient area of the head (4 inches / 10cm). ”
So you can imagine in the height of summer this can be somewhat uncomfortable. So, bouyed by the recent beautiful images from across the Atlantic, IÂ thought of my previous post and the beautiful pieces below.
By now you have probably guessed I’m a little obsessed with shoes. I’m no label snob, though . From New Look to Louboutin; I’m there.
However, as my client and I drifted through Selfridges on Friday last week, I was instant besotted with these cheeky wedges.
The lady I was with shall remain nameless for fear of appearing flippant ( I must add she is incredibly hard working!) Stated for all and sundary surrounding us;
“Go on, Buy them! they are a bargain” at that point I said “umm, pardon”
She said “Yes, look those ones over there are ÂŁ2,500.00 these are ÂŁ450.00!”
Needless to say, I did not take up her advice on economising… but they have now landed in my netaporter fantasy basket.
I will reach the check out one day….
Clearly if you have seen my thinly veiled moan via twitter, I would like to be in New York right now (correction I WANT to be in New York right now).
So I thought, in the name of, umm, research I would lust after what is being shown over the next few days and paly fantasy shopping again (see previous posts for explaination).
Of course, there was the usual line up (all beautiful I may add) of Michael Kors, Calvin Klein etc… However there was Mathieu Mirano.
Born in New York, Mathieu Mirano attended the Huntington School of Fine Arts before studying at Parsonâs School of Design in New York City. Mathieu launched his debut collection in 2011 through his inspired inventiveness and unique sense of fashion. He effectively utilized high levels of construction, craft and imagination.
Mathieuâs highly praised capsule collection prompted him to launch his eponymous spring collection in 2011. With a background in fine arts and classical piano, Mathieu is inspired by composers such as Camille Saint-SaĂ«ns and Philip Glass, as well as his extensive travels in Paris, Marseille, Geneva, Milan, London, Cairo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Calcutta.
Mathieuâs fall 2012 collection utilizes couture techniques and promises to attract wide attention from glamorous women. By combining his observations of colors, textures and fashionable women around the world with his dreamlike imagination, Mathieu has created a compelling fall collection through use of black leathers and dragon scale embroideries in combination with silk chiffons and organzas. His exposed zippers, claw studs and metal dragon heads and talons give a raw intensity to soft wools and furs.
The new fall collectionâs dresses, coats, jackets, gowns, blouses, and pants combine style and color with detailed fabric layering, and promise to propel the Mathieu Mirano brand to the forefront of leading emerging designers in the luxury fashion landscape.
